 In the Parish of St Nicolas & St Andrew the gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed and the sacraments of
His one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church are celebrated according to the custom of the Church of England.
The Church of England teaches and practices the faith brought to this land in 597AD by St Augustine and by his predecessors.
The Eucharist, the service our Lord himself gave us, is regularly celebrated here and the Holy Communion of Christ's body and blood is received.

A Prayer for the Parish

Lord God, heavenly Father,
you are good and great.
Help me
and all your family in Portslade
to grow to be like your Son
and to be one
with all your Church.
Let the light of your love shine in me,
so that others may come to know you.
Teach me to love
and help my neighbours.
Guided by your Spirit,
may I follow the Way
of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ
until I come to share in your Kingdom;
through Christ our Lord
Amen

The Prayer of St Richard
Bishop of Chichester
1245-1253

Thanks be
To Thee, my Lord Jesus Christ,
For all the benefits which
Thou hast given me
For all the pains and insults
Thou hast borne for me.

O most merciful Redeemer,
Friend and Brother,
May I know Thee more clearly
Love Thee more dearly
And follow Thee more nearly

The Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is discord, vision.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
